We strive to innovate and develop best practice in work with young people. We are always willing to discuss any potential piece of work or offer advice without obligation. We can provide consultation on the best way to address challenging problems and propose creative solutions to effectively engage young people, particularly those most difficult to reach.
Equilibrium (also known as EQ) is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company developing and delivering quality support services for young people, in particular those that are ‘hard-to-reach'.
We specialise in creating solutions to difficult problems associated with providing services for teenagers and are committed to a ‘young person centred' approach to service design, delivery and development.
We work in partnership with a wide range of professional agencies to develop greater awareness of young people's needs in service planning and delivery at local, regional and national level.
Equilibrium was established in 2001 by the Director Paul Williams, with the sole intention of developing and creating solutions to address identified gaps in the services for young people. Since then EQ has delivered a wide range of projects working together in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies both in Dorset and further afield. In 2006 the company converted to a not-for-profit, Community Interest Company (CIC).
EQ delivers a diverse range of programmes that make a positive difference to the lives of young people. We also act as consultants on the development of initiatives, events or research that will positively influence the way that adults perceive and interact with young people.
EQ delivers bespoke projects including work targeting support for young people such as those:
Not engaging in education or at risk of exclusion
With social, emotional, behavioural difficulties or developmental delay
With mental health issues
Who are looked after
With offending behaviour
EQ subscribes to the following principles :
Recognising all young people as individuals who are able to contribute to society.
Delivering informal education that complements formal education and parental guidance.
Offering quality support to young people which helps them to achieve and progress and to make informed choices.
Enabling the voice of the young person to be heard, including helping them to influence decision making at various levels.
Providing a rich diversity of personal and social development opportunities and choices to young people.
Promoting intervention and prevention to address the individual, institutional and policy causes of disaffection and exclusion.
EQ delivers work which is underpinned by the five 'Every Child Matters' outcomes.
EQ works with Local Authorities, schools, youth services, health professionals, social worker teams, the police, councils, parents and voluntary projects to add value to existing support services for young people.
